Celebrating Jaydon's first month

We celebrated Jaydon's full month on Sat for my family side. Both hubby & me have big families hence there leave no choice for not splitting up into 2 weekends. Hubby's family side will be invited to come next Sat. Just for my family alone has already invited close to 50 paxs. This is probably the first time Jaydon has been in such a big crowd fussing over him. And inspite of all the noise and commotion, he can still sleep peacefully.

Full Month cake

Getting ready to meet guests

We catered buffet and prepared red eggs & ang-ku kueh. Glutinous rice was prepared by my auntie which is simply delicious. We all know that Baby full month can't do without these 3 dishes but do you know what does it signify for?

Red Eggs
Dyed red eggs are an integral part of the full month celebration as it symbolizes happiness and the renewal of life, as well as announce the arrival of a newborn baby. Red colourings were used to dye the egg shells, as the colour red is an auspicious colour for Chinese. Whenever a Chinese celebrates any occasion, you are bound to see red everywhere.

Ang-ku kueh
The dough of the "red turtle cake" is dyed red for good luck. This kueh also signifies longevity as turtles have long lives. Thus, the “ang ku kueh” is made to resemble a turtle's back. In this new generation, to simplify things, a ‘pointed’ “ang ku kueh” signifies a boy while a ‘flat’ one a girl.

Glutinous rice
This dish to distribute along with the red eggs. Different dialect groups have different ways of making this dish. The Teochew version is sweet and steamed while the Hokkien version is savoury and fragrant, cooked with fatty pork, dried shrimp, Chinese mushroom, dark soy sauce, and fried shallots.

Lastly, Jaydon says:
"Thank you Uncles & Aunties for the wonderful gifts & ang pows. Thank you & more thank you:)"

Unbelievable!!!

Heard his cries & was surprised to see him already turned to his right. Jaydon managed to turn! He is just 3 weeks old. Hubby & me just couldn't believe ourselves not to say others! We managed to take picture & video on him. See to believe!

Flip by himself to this position

Trying to flip back by all his mighty strength

His way to ask for hug hug

Jaydon has "develop" his special way to grab our attention. He will first stretch his arms and legs, to let us know that he is going to wake up. Then he make a few light sounds, after which he will make a few short cry. If at this stage, no one is coming to attend to him. He will go to his final stage: Crying and screaming!

A big Thank You

Jaydon's says: "Thank You Uncles & Aunties for the home visiting & gifts. Hope to see you again on my full month celebration."
